Wonderful food, nice staff, a nice wine list and outdoor seating. What more could you ask for in a smaller sized town? ☺
I really love this place but, the service is just awful. The owner, Mike, is great and friendly as well as the entire weight staff. My mom had a party of 5 or 7 (I can't remember) thay didn't get their food until an hour and a half after ordering. I personally would still go back and I really love their food. But my mom, she won't go back. She's just had too many bad experiences here. I talked her into it once but I don't think she would ever go again. And we've been going to this place for YEARS, love it and are of Italian heritage so that is why she kept giving them a chance. But, as always, judge for yourself. I really think you will love it.
As you probably noticed if you read any of my postings specially about food I usually give them a Heim work because very few places that I have visited have a have bad food some are better than others I must admit but I've been happy with oil and this place is an exceptional place as well they have great pizza
Last time I was there it was just okay. It's apparent they have given up. Caroline and Basils are both very good restaurants
Chef's treatment of walnut encrusted trout, sauteed spinach, and au gratin potatoes was delicious--best ever! Bar and table service was friendly and attentive.
We love this place...love it. They have such a fun location, and the fun is always been to die for. Go here...eat here...you will not be sorry.
Was in the area and decided to eat some Italian. However, this food is far from Italian fare. Took forever to get food and once we received it nobody in my party was impressed by any stretch of the imagination. Chicken parm was a double line breast split in two and they didn't bother to even trim the breasts properly.(It still had the cartilage on the one breast). The sauce was pretty much just tomato paste with a little sugar, no flavor at all. The "Teresa" potatoes which was about two slices of a small potato was very bland as well. Also, a salad that came with the dinner for $20 just for my meal was absurd. Try preparing your products properly as well as seasoning them properly. I literally can get better Italian cuisine at Fazoli's or prepare it myself. Will not be going back.
Took 40 minutes to get our salads after ordering, about 20 minutes after the salad our bread came out, then another 20 minutes until the food came out.... cold. The room was set on 62 degrees (not exaggerating). We asked for it to be turned up, and nothing was done. Many things on the menu were not available. Lasagna plate was warm, but the inside was cold. Porkchops were undercooked. Asked for a manager, no one ever came. Some drink orders were not taken, those who had drinks had to ask for refills. We used to enjoy coming here, will probably not ever return
Went here the other day and the service wasn't the best. Took a hour for our food to come out. Food wasn't horrible, just probably won't go back
Completely unsanitary as I was walking to the bathroom I noticed in the window I passed there were tossing salad with their bare hands no gloves were on that is utterly gross. They take forever to come out with your food, staff is rude, menu prices are outrageous, would not recommend it to anyone who likes food.
First time I ordered from here it was good but yesterday the calimari smelled like fish so bad it made me gag. I wasted 10 bucks on that and the sampler gave me stomach problems.
This was my first AND last time coming here. My husband's company Christmas dinner was here. We had one waitress to a party of about 20 people. The room we were in was freezing cold, server told us she'd have them turn the heat up. She never did. My husband's boss spotted the thermostat in the room and turned the heat ON. Our food was cold, barely got refills. My husband's boss complained to the server several times, yet no manager ever came to check on things or even apologize. The food was terrible!! I will NEVER be returning here again!!!
Was a wonderful place but now is closed.
This is not Italian food! All the dishes were swimming in butter....what a terrible experience! Whoever runs this kitchen needs to buy a good quality cookbook, study the recipes and then create a menu that is worth calling Italian food. Do people in Troy or the neighboring towns have such poor knowledge of Italian cuisine that this place can stay in business?? Wow!!
They need to learn the meaning of the word "reservation." Made one for six on a Saturday night and showed up ten minutes early. The place was packed, and we were told it would be at least a half-hour before we could get a seat. We sat for a little bit and overheard another table talking about how they'd made 5:30 reservations and were told they'd be waiting. So we just left.
Great food, friendly staff, and wonderful atmosphere! Their gnocchi with the spicy sausage and Tuscan quesadillas are especially tasty.
My boyfriend and I have gone to this restaurant ever year for the past 4 years to watch the Kentucky Derby. Its been a tradition for us and something we always look forward to. We love the food and atmosphere here. We had some issues with our reservations this year but messaged the resteraunt and they responded quickly and apologized. They were very kind and admitted to the mistake and were prompt to make up for it. I really enjoy this restaurant.
Was there for lunch with a friend and after a 20 minute wait, we order an appetizer and sandwiches. I should add that when we arrive there wasn't many people there yet. After 30 minutes, we received the bread, after 45 minutes we received the appetizers. Finally after 80 minutes, told the waitress we had to go and she bagged up our sandwiches to go. She didn't take anything off of bill. I seen people come and eat and go as we continue waiting. Very bad customer service.
Ordered 2 subs that were barely warm . They were tiny and not cooked. It was our first time there, we were not impressed and will not be going back.
Wonderful date night location with great food and wine selection.
La Piazza is a gem in Troy, Ohio. Meals are varied and the specials are usually a treat. Great thing to find was their gluten free menu. As far as I know they are the only Italian restaurant in the Dayton area caring gluten free pasta. Normal pastas are great too. Good beer selection but not too varied. Good value and great staff.
We've always been a fan of this place until recently. Our server was top notch but the food was bland, hastily prepared and not what you would expect from a $20 entree. My sauce was essentially some canned tomato chunks on top of my pasta, and the meat in my Canneloni was just ground beef with no seasoning. We also were sat in the back dark corner of the restaurant near the kitchen door despite there being literally no one in the dining room. Sitting next to us was what appeared to be a staff member and her family who seemed to be there more to socialize and allow her kids to play than to enjoy a relaxing meal. This family has a great reputation for quality restaurants but LaPiazza didn't live up to that expectation.
They were out of a lot of things. They scheduled a rehearsal dinner and kept their business open and couldn't offer the things that we wanted. It was okay just a little disappointing.
Good food and service, great atmosphere for a date night. Moderately expensive, but worth it.
They have problems. My wife ordered a Montecristo Sandwich which was missing the Ham and the dusting of powdered sugar. Apparently the cook told the manager there was no ham and the manager did not tell the waitress. I ordered a sausage calzone which seemed oddly filled ( I don't know what to expect). The Manager was apparently more concerned about chair placement than the food. As this is about our 30 Anniversary, It reminded us of the first hotel restaurant on our honeymoon that was just a little worse.
First visit and was worried after reading reviews but our experience was awesome. Food and service were both great and both very fast. Start to finish we were here an hour. Will defenitely be back.
Very nice building but the atmosphere is more like captain dee's. Food was not the best. The chicken in the grilled chicken salad was like you get at the grocery in the frozen section and tasteless. The pizza was in grease on the serving tray. The sausage on the pizza was very plain and the sauce had no pizazz. The garlic bread was very good. You order food and pay at one counter and then order drink and pay at another. No free refills on fountain drinks. They do have two liters and some alcohol. We ordered two garlic bread individual orders. 2-13 inch pizzas a grilled chicken salad and that part of our bill was about $44. We had 2 fountain drinks which were $3 something. Do not plan to return.
Good place to take a date or a group meeting too. Food is average for Italian, prices are a little high, but the staff and environment are really nice. Good luck finding parking though.
Worst I've had in a long while service time waaaayyy to long. Had shrimp Alfredo they did not remove the tail shell noodles gummy and stuck together. Oh the water was good. Would not recommend
The food was okay, just didn't live up to what I expected. Overall a nice family owned restaurant.
Not what is was, not up to standard for the price. Missing item on menu, different plates for same menu item, candles not lit, just not as good. Staff still good and friendly.
So far this Summer, I have dined here twice and both times it was disappointing. Both times i ordered the same thing Calamari as an entree and a dinner salad with oil and vinegar on the side. The calamari is tasteless, all you taste is breading. Squid when prepared properly, is delicious. This is not. The salad was fine but skimpy on portion. Servers were excellent both times but the high school aged hostess was a bit snotty. The Anticoli family has a good reputation in the restaurant business but this establishment seems to be struggling over the little things. They need a Gordon Ramsay visit. There's no passion with anybody here.
I was not really impressed with the food. I understand the restaurant is closed permanently.
I had a horrible experience at La Piazza. It started with the restaurant being out of the wine we ordered. They had me taste a similar less expensive bottle, which I selected, then they charged me for the original bottle that they never served. It took a long time for the server to bring bread to the table. Even though it was not busy, it took over 45 minutes to order. We all ordered our salads and entrees. After the salads were served, we were informed that they were out of the dish that three of us ordered. They agreed to substitute some of the ingredients but it was served with a different pasta than the menu and not anything like fish stew should taste. A larger group that came in after us was done with their meal before we were served our entree. Even though they reduced the bill, I will never go back to this restaurant again.
Attended the lunch buffet. Food was good, but for a buffet, there were few food choices and all the food groups were not provided with sufficient options for various tastes.
Great Italian Food. Nice ambiance. courteous staff
I never had such a mushy pasta in my life!! Don't wasting your money.
Went to meet family to celebrate a birthday. We had our own private party room in the back which was nice. The atmosphere is top notch in the entire restaurant. The wait staff was very nice and performed her job well. However the kitchen took about 1.5 hours to get our entrees out to us. We were there for a total of 3 hours. When we got our food, some, if not most of it was sitting out for a bit. My wife had the spaghetti with tomato basil sauce, it came with meat in it and the taste was not great. I had the sampler which I was also not impressed with. Overall I cannot recommend this place for italian food, but then maybe it was an off night for the kitchen. The management was very nice and professional taking off most of our bill and even giving us a $25 gift certificate to come back again. Maybe some time down the road I will be able to give them another shot and update my review.
Any time I'm in Troy, I simply must come by for their antipasto plate and a sangria. Highly recommend spending an hour or two on their patio!
Really really good Italian food. Their garlic salad dressing is great!
This used to be my favorite place to eat been sitting here fo 20 minutes and yet to have server stop. This place is definitely not like it used to be, so sad.
Wonderful food! Great service. Nice beer selection. We ordered the sampler plate. The cannelloni and the manicotti were to die for.
So sad, this was a favorite place of mine for special occasions. Went here for our 33rd anniversary. We had a reservation and we were asked to wait. A couple came in after us and were taken to a table before us. Once seated, I ordered a bottle of wine, they were out. Ordered another. When dinner came out, mine was luke warm, not up to par for a $20 meal and the side dish was just plain cold. The manager took my meal off the bill, but this was disappointing. Not sure what is going on with this restaurant but it is not good.
Best place in Troy to watch the holiday lights on the square! Warm, inviting, lovely spot for a fantastic meal. The pizzas are delicious!
First of all, I love just about all food, so it really takes a lot for me to say something is bad.We were seated and got our drinks. The water tasted a little funny, but I've grown up on tap water so I didn't mind it. Other people at my table did, though. The bread that they brought out was pretty good, nothing special about it though. Salad was good too. From the time we were seated and ordered just a few minutes after, it took over an hour for our food to come out. No explanation, no apology, nothing. And they weren't even busy, it was just a normal afternoon. When we got our food, 3 of the dishes were so cold that our waitress had to take them back to microwave them. Mine was cold-ish, but I was hungry so I ate it. I got the Manicotti and it tasted like it was 2 day old leftovers. Like I said, I love food and I'll eat just about anything. This was gross and I wouldn't have eaten it if I weren't starving and trying to get back to work in a decent amount of time.
They were out of a lot of food items on a Friday night. Some of it we were informed up front, some we did not find out about until after a 30+ minute wait for food. When we finally got our meals, the food was good, but by then we were disappointed by the wait and not getting what we originally wanted.
The best Italian restaurant around.good atmosphere and service and mainly food
Nice Italian restaurant, much more than pizza. Their house salad dressing is outstanding.
